An ECB violation is a civil summons issued by a NYC agency alleging a violation of a law, code, or rule.  Respondents must attend a hearing adjudicated by the Office of Administrative Trials and Hearings (OATH) or pay any applicable penalties. Commonly issued by DOB, FDNY, DSNY, DOHMH, DEP and other agencies, these violations can result in substantial penalties if not properly addressed. Additionally, a certificate of correction often has to be filed to have the violation fully resolved.
